Tales of a Broken Heart “Returns” to Boston University

April 17, 2004

After successful performances in the Boston area, and a recent series of charitable fundraiser performances for Shelter Inc. on Guam, Tales of a Broken Heart: Not a Love Story “returned” to Boston University Saturday night in a show sponsored by Theater For Engineers.

The show had never previously been preformed at the school, but Marcelo and Greg have deep ties to the university.

“Well this is the place where it all started for me,” explained Marcelo. “Greg and I met through Theater For Engineers. We did improv together. He directed me in a show, and he helped me direct a musical I co-wrote. This show is a sort of homecoming for us.”

Many present and past BU students were on-hand to see the homecoming.

“It was nice to see some of my old freshman-year buddies come into town for the show,” continued Marcelo. “We also wanted to show the current members of the troupe that their creative endeavors don’t have to stop with college. I had never acted or written anything before joining TFE, and now Greg and I have a successful collaboration that has spawned several shows.”

In addition to Tales of a Broken Heart, Greg and Marcelo have had two of their plays selected in play festivals. Marcelo also performs weekly with ImprovBoston, Boston’s oldest professional improvisational comedy troupe.
